Chalkboard Kitchen and a Date

We turned Chris's kitchen into a giant chalk board. Probably not the best idea for a girl with ADHD since I can't stop drawing on everything. and we finally set a wedding date, church and venue booked. Now for the long list of everything else! {241 days to go till the hitching}

what we used:
+ Chalkboard paint
+ 1 gallon of flat black interior paint
+ Countertop paint
+ Crayola Chalk

+Ready Set Go stamps and Hero Arts Neon Ink it the top right photo

maybe plans and someday dreams

we've been looking at this house. hoping we can buy it at auction this weekend. but now it's probably not going to happen. (due to real estate terms of sale I don't fully understand, and I tie my brain in knots trying to). Goodbye orange doors and metal glider of my dreams.

if wishes were horses, I'd have a ranch

the stuff i love

I live for Christmas
I get it from my Mammie
she puts up 10 plus Christmas trees.
I only have 2 this year.
and they are both artificial thanks to my Christmas tree {mold}allergy.

yup, I've been killing Christmas since 1982. {in the words of my sister}

my vintage tree
all the ornaments are from my Mammie and Mam-maw

and my fun size tree
with wax paper stars and  rag garland.

do you have your decorations up yet?
I am still in new house mode and I am petrified of putting holes in the walls
or making any other hasty decor decisions so we don't have alot of stuff up this year.

stuff i love

inspired by Danielle
here are a few pictures from around my house.

on the fridge.
-Juliette Lowe postcard
-star magnets from amish country
-Love Your Neighbor poster for Nashville flood relief
-picture of the fam in 1983. (I'm the littlest.)

ruffle shower curtain
and super soft martha stewart rug
that I got for $10 because they had the signs posted wrong.

my Mammie E (great grandma Ethel) was the queen of quilt making.
These are 2 of my favorites.
The fabric on the left is amazing, I wish I could find some to make my own.
because I am afraid these will fall apart someday.
The quilt on the right was my mom's bedspread in 1st grade.

the corner cupboard in the kitchen.
teapot from my Mammie
the cardinal is a perfume bottle and it was my Mam-Maw's
teacup and saucer from a friends bridal shower
blue bird from Adena
 calf and thermos- both thrifted

around the house.

this weekend I worked on the guest/computer room a bit.
made the bed with my old quilts.
I love how soft and worn in they are but the poor butterfly quilt has holes worn in it
(the nuns at my church made it when I was little).
So I have to layer them.

bookshelf

pretty thrifted fabric.
I don't know what to do with it yet.
It reminds me of a dress my Mam-Maw had.

living room. sigh.

Josh and I have been arguing over the living room.
I have crazy ocd and I can't sit with my back to the front door.
I don't know, I'm weird.
I want to be able to see the front door and out the front window if i'm sitting on the couch.
Plus having the couch like that cuts the room in half.
So when Josh went to work last week, I rearranged.
When he came home he put it back the way it is in the diagram below.
We need to figure something out before we kill each other.
I would love, adore, appreciate any ideas!

my puma's snuck in the picture :)

our espresso couch (and loveseat too but I couldn't find a photo)
they are the best "brown, no black, no maybe it's brown" color

we have ass ugly brown chairs in front of the picture window in the foyer area.
they were my sisters, and then mine, then a friends, now mine again.
they may or may not have a funky smell that febreeze can't kill.

target bookcase

Josh found our coffee table at an antique store.
and he never goes thrifting with me.
Beginners luck.
see our old orange recliners?
miss those.
{bet you do too, ky}

we need to buy more furniture.

p.s. I think Josh needs to build me this
on the wall where the loveseat is living right now:
{I don't know where I found this photo??}

weekend adventures

last weekend we spent time at Josh's families new place on the river.
wandered into town and ate breakfast at this cute diner.
my mom is a kickass breakfast maker and their home-fries
were the closest thing I have ever tasted to hers.
and they fried my ham for my egg sandwich.
Blue Bell you are probably my new bff.

{wendy.me.dani.}

On Saturday night we went to a local brewery
it sits on the river and they actually grow hops on the patio.
the inside looks like a bar and a coffee house had a baby.
I want the vintage sectional they have.
Or this one.

we finally put up the decal I bought from shanna murray.
I am slightly obsessed with her decals now.
It was so easy to put up.
ok not gonna lie, I am like a walking disaster and I
didn't want to screw up something that will be on our wall forever
so I watched Josh apply the decal. But it all worked out
beautifully with no complications.
this is my next purchase I think.
she does customs as well so I am brainstorming on that!
any cute ideas?

this song from Dierks Bentley's bluegrass album is all over the radio.
I love that its acoustic. and it hasn't gotten old (yet)
watch the video here

Come on girl it's almost dawn
Lets get it 'fore the magic gone
Tall tall grass all around
Come on lay that blanket down
Wild flowers just like you
Lay on me like mornin' dew
Now take my hand walk with me
Sun come up through them trees
Give you all I got to give
That's how we live up on the ridge

his tour poster wants to be framed and hung up in my livingroom
